Job Description:

As a Reliability Engineer at Efficient Power Conversion, you play a crucial role in developing the next generation of GaN FETs and ICs and their introduction to the market. Together with the rest of the Reliability Team at EPC, you will be designing and supporting component characterization and reliability tests to evaluate new processes, qualify new products, and develop physics of failure models.

This position requires a creative and enthusiastic engineer with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with electronic circuits, test equipment, and computer programming.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and build test systems for characterization of GaN transistors and ICs, including the design of printed circuit boards and automated test systems.
  • Generate scripts to process test results, generate reports, and communicate with cross-functional teams to drive product improvement.
  • Develop physics-based models to characterize and predict failure mechanisms.
  • Generate test procedures and test instructions.
  • Support Failure Analysis activities.

Job Requirements:

  • Good understanding of power electronics (power electronic devices, switching converters, and analog/digital electronics).
  • Experience with CAD Schematic capture and layout tools, such as Altium Designer.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools like LTSpice.
  • Knowledge of JEDEC and AEC qualification standards for discrete/IC semiconductor devices (desired).
  • Hands-on experience with electronics and test equipment (Up to 1kV power supplies, meters, source measurement units, oscilloscopes, DAQs, etc.).
  • Skilled at building printed circuit boards, soldering components, and developing prototypes.
  • In-depth computer programming experience (Visual Basic, MATLAB, Python, and LabVIEW are preferred).
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good listening, verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Familiarity with standard office software.
  • Language: Fluent in English.
  • Authorized to work in the US.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 5+ years of experience, master’s degree in electrical engineering with 3+ years of experience, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Preferred experience in the semiconductor industry.

Travel:

Occasionally between EPC's headquarters in El Segundo, CA, and EPC's office in Aliso Viejo, CA.
