Job Description:

As a Failure Analysis Engineer for Efficient Power Conversion, the primary responsibilities include root cause analysis of GaN discrete and IC products. This role not only conducts failure analyses but also significantly impacts the development and delivering reliable and robust eGaN FETs and ICs to the market. This position requires coordination with external failure analysis laboratories, GaN device fabrication facilities, and reliability testing facilities worldwide. Good communication skill is a must.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with R&D, Fab, Application, and Quality teams to resolve all FA-related issues.
  • Handle customer returns/RMA.
  • Work with fellow engineers to develop and implement new failure analysis methods.
  • Work with the R&D team to develop robust product design and manufacturing.
  • Analyze reliability test data and identify good FA samples.
  • Generate comprehensive failure analysis reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with materials characterization techniques such as SEM, EDX, FIB, TEM
  • Experience with non-destructive failure analysis tools such as an optical microscope, X-ray, CSAM
  • Solid knowledge of semiconductor wafer processing and fabrication and device physics.
  • Previous cleanroom experience preferred.
  • Some programming experience desired (MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python)
  • Solid statistical skills (Excel, JMP)
  • Previous power electronics experience is a plus.
  • Ability to successfully develop and present reports and presentations.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor/MS/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or another job-relevant field with 3 years of experience in semiconductor failure analysis is preferred.

Travel:

Occasional car travel between Aliso Viejo (OC) and external FA laboratories in Los Angeles.
