Alex Lidow获得Stanford大学应用物理学博士学位后，于国际整流器公司（IR）工作了30年。IR公司是半导体制造商，是他的父亲Eric Lidow于1940年代成立的上市公司。

Alex开拓IR公司的功率管理技术、共同发明该公司的主要产品的共有专利权，以及在1995年与Derek Lidow 两兄弟担任IR公司的共同首席执行官。于1999年，Derek离开IR公司并成立iSupply市场调研公司后，Alex成为IR公司的首席执行官。
