Introduction:

This is an opportunity to work at the leading edge of power electronics. Efficient Power Conversion Corp. was the first to introduce and commercialize enhancement-mode gallium-nitride-on-silicon FETs, also known as eGaN® FETs, and remains the leader in enhancement mode gallium nitride-based power management devices. With the recent addition of monolithically integrated GaN ePower™ stages and chipsets, EPC continues to lead with devices that have superior performance over silicon-based power devices in high performance DC-to-DC, AC-to-DC, DC-to-AC power conversion, motor drives and is an enabler of new applications such as wireless power transfer and LiDAR used in autonomous vehicles and robots.

We are looking for highly motivated people with the ability to identify and develop technological advantages of GaN based semiconductors in various existing and new applications and program digital controls that exemplify those characteristics to join our team and help develop the power technology of the future.

Job Description:

As digital control applications engineer you will be part of a world class team designing, programming, and evaluating leading edge GaN-device based digitally controlled converters. You will have the opportunity to publish your work at several internationally recognized peer reviewed conferences, journals, and trade magazines. You will also have an opportunity to work with the top customers in the industry on their leading-edge designs.

This position requires an independent self-starter who pays attention to detail, has excellent organizational skills, a proven track record of success, can generate new ideas, and can work as part of a team. You will enjoy the support of a highly talented team who will assist your career growth and knowledge of GaN FETs and IC’s. The main responsibilities for this position are:

  • Design, simulate, program, evaluate and support various leading-edge high performance, cost-effective digitally controlled reference DC-to-DC, AC-to-DC, DC-to-AC converters that exemplify the superior characteristics of eGaN FETs including instructional collateral generation and design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews,
  • Maintain and update existing digitally controller designs,
  • Support demonstration board production testing using digital controls,
  • Use your talents to lead various challenging in-house and customer-based projects and interact with customers to understand their needs, goals and provide practical suggestions,
  • Help establish new and efficient design procedures,
  • Write and publish world class technical documents, journals and books that explain the excellence of your work.

  • Digital control programming using DSPs and similar controllers,
  • High frequency DC-to-DC, AC-to-DC, DC-to-AC switching converters and topologies, with computing and automotive systems background a plus,
  • Control parameter measurement and programing of digital closed loop controls for various converters,
  • Implementation of various closed loop digital controller functions,
  • Experience in debugging issues and understanding root cause failure,
  • Experience with layout (Altium preferred) and PCB design process of digital, analog, and power converter systems,
  • Practical bench experience: testing and setting up experiments, data processing and document generation, soldering and rework, modification of boards and, mechanical assembly,
