Introduction:

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of power electronics technology. Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) was the first company to introduce and commercialize enhancement-mode gallium nitride-on-silicon FETs, also known as eGaN® FETs, and continues to be a leader in low-voltage GaN power management devices.

In recent years, eGaN FETs and ICs have been increasingly adopted in high-performance power conversion applications. GaN technology has enabled significant advances in areas such as AI data centers, robotics, drones, wireless power transfer, and LiDAR systems for autonomous vehicles and robots.

Job Description:

As an Applications Engineer, you will be part of a highly talented team designing, building, and evaluating state-of-the-art power converters using GaN devices. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer passionate about power electronics and interested in gaining hands-on experience developing advanced power conversion systems.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with leading companies in the industry, collaborating with their engineering teams on next-generation designs and challenging applications. You will also have opportunities to present and publish your work at internationally recognized, peer-reviewed conferences, in technical journals, and in industry trade magazines.

We are looking for a motivated, proactive, and self-driven engineer with strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to think creatively and work effectively as part of a team. You will be supported by an experienced and highly talented team committed to your professional development, helping you expand your knowledge of GaN technology and develop your expertise in power electronics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, simulate, build, and evaluate power converter reference designs that demonstrate the performance and capabilities of EPC’s GaN products. Develop the associated technical documentation and instructional materials.
  • Maintain, improve, and update existing designs.
  • Evaluate and characterize new GaN products and integrated circuits.
  • Develop test systems and automation to make testing more efficient, accurate, and repeatable.
  • Prepare and publish high-quality technical content, including application notes, technical articles, conference papers, and other educational materials.
  • Support customers and collaborate with other engineering teams on the development and evaluation of GaN-based power conversion solutions.

Job Requirements and Skills:

  • Understanding of DC-to-DC switching converters and topologies.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor device fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics test equipment including power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electronic loads.
  • Practical bench experience: testing and setting up experiments, data processing and document generation, soldering and rework, board modification, and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience with layout (Altium preferred) and the PCB design process of power converters.
  • Good listening, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Publications, seminars, tutorials, and other educational experience in English is a plus.

Education/Experience:

  • BS or MS in electrical engineering or related discipline with 1–3 years’ experience (preferred).

EPC offers the following benefits:

  • Medical with prescription, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Relocation assistance
