GaN FETs and ICs are used in AC-DC applications because they deliver superior efficiency, higher power density, and significantly smaller system sizes compared to traditional silicon solutions. Their ability to switch at high frequencies with low losses reduces the need for bulky passive components and improves thermal management. This leads to more compact, lightweight, and reliable power supplies. As a result, GaN is quickly becoming the preferred technology for a broad range of AC-DC applications across consumer electronics, industrial automation, AI servers, and renewable energy systems.
