The superior characteristics of eGaN ® FETs and ICs enable a lower cost single transmit amplifier solution that can wirelessly charge devices regardless of the standard used in the receiving device.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif — September 2016 — Efficient Power Conversion Corporation’s (EPC) EPC9121 multi-mode wireless charging demonstration system has been honored with an Electronic Products China’s “Top 10 Power Product – Breakthrough Technology Award.” The award is a benchmark for recognizing a significant advancement in a technology or its application that leads the industry trend. The award presentation was announced on September 8th, 2016 in Beijing, China during its Power Conference.

The EPC9121 demonstration system simplifies the evaluation process of using eGaN FETs and ICs for highly efficient multi-mode wireless power charging systems that can cut across the two leading standards used in the receiving units. These are the Qi standard, based on inductive coupling technology, it uses a low frequency (<300 kHz) approach and the AirFuel™ standard, which uses a magnetic resonant technology and has both low frequency (100 kHz through 315 kHz) and high frequency (6.78 MHz) requirements. The EPC9121 is a single-amplifier, multi-mode solution that can support both standards.

Electronic Products China — a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers — evaluated significant number of products launched from August 1, 2015 to July 1, 2016. The winning products were selected on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or application, and substantial achievement in price and performance. The EPC9121 demonstration system demonstrated its successes in being the first single-amplifier multi-mode solution, which enables high efficiency for both low and high frequency modes. In addition, this solution saves space and lowers cost. Specifically, it is recognized for its significant progress in leading the industry’s technology trend.
