Fresh From the Bench: EPC9192 Reference Design for EPC2307 eGaN FETs

Sep 02, 2026

Encouraging developers to design high-performance Class-D audio amplifiers leveraging GaN FETs, Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has launched the new EPC9192 reference design, enabling high power and high efficiency Class-D audio amplifiers in a modular design. audioXpress reviews the EPC9192 to confirm the performance capabilities of EPC’s 200V, EPC2307 eGaN FETs in a ground-referenced, split dual supply single-ended (SE) design, rated to deliver 700W per channel into a 4Ω load.

In the more than 40 years that I’ve been designing and testing amplifiers, I’ve watched various technologies arrive, mature, then get superseded. Vacuum tubes gave way to transistors, germanium to silicon, bipolars to MOSFETs, and the real paradigm change from linear to Class D. Each time, the transformation was rapid, followed by some years of slow optimization before the next leap. Science geeks like me will think of the punctuated equilibrium theory.
